Patching Chimney Flashing
Plug pinholes with roofing cement and patch holes up to about 3 4 inch in diameter with a patch from the same material as the flashing.
Patching chimney flashing. Any such leaks can be quite frustrating to diagnose. Use a chisel to remove any hardened roofing cement. Apply a generous amount of roofing cement behind the flashing. First roughen the area around the hole with a wire brush or sandpaper and then clean it.
After the clean area dries apply a thin base coat of flashseal that covers the entire flashing area and extends a few inches above the flashing line. Clean any leaves or other debris out of the gap between the flashing and chimney. Chimney flashing can allow roof leaks in the transition area between the chimney and the roofing materials. The only way to repair flashing is to replace it. To repair your flashing with flashseal you first need to clean the area of any dirt and debris to allow the product to work as efficiently as possible. Before going up on the roof to do the replacement it is recommended that measurements are taken around the chimney so that the flashing can be ordered. It is attached to one side of the chimney and one side on the roof.
