Rear View Mirror Fell Off Windshield Chunk Glass

Rear view mirror fell off windshield chunk glass. Maybe you can prolong the eventual cracking that way. If you are careful you may be able to get the glass off in one piece and glue it back in place with repair resin or rear view mirror adhesive. I pulled it down and noticed that there was a chunk of glass glued to the button and a roughly 1 4 asymmetrical crease in the windshield where the mirror used to go see below. If not you can fill the hole with plate glass resin or pit resin cure scrape and polish to get a smooth surface.

You could try to fit that chunk back in there. Auto parts stores sell a rear view mounting repair kit thingy. It s a bit odd. You can get the glass off the mirror button with a torch or heat gun and a putty knife.

This is also true if you hit pot hole or bump. Went to walmart and they had the permatex repair adhesive kit. The mirror on an 08 nissan altima fell off taking a chunk of glass out. Or just fill the hole in and then re mount right below or next to it.

Yesterday i hopped into my 2001 a4 a secondary car for me and i noticed the mirror was dangling from the windshield. Basically an alcohol wipe and some super glue. You can use glue to put the mirror back on but if you live in an area were the weather changes from hot to cold or visa versa the windshield may crack. It s on a 2004 wrx and the windshield is aftermarket pilkington glass.

I was just adjusting the mirror on my 2004 wrx when it just fell off. I ve seen this happen on numerous occasions twice to myself.
